Abstract

Different animal models including zebrafish (Danio rerio) have been widely used for several purposes in biomedical research over the past three decades. Zebrafish breed frequently and eggs develop into transparent larvae after 24 h which makes it easy to see the vital organs in real-time. It is easy to maintain and keep a large number of zebrafish in a relatively small place. The particular aim of this paper is to review the pros and cons of using zebrafish models compared to other models such as cell line, mouse, rat, etc.
